Marc J. Boswell, Ph.D. Senior Pastor Marc Boswell (he/him) has served in church ministries for over twenty years and in theological higher education for over ten. He earned an M.Div. from Union Presbyterian Seminary and a Ph.D. in Constructive Theology from Garrett Theological Seminary at Northwestern University. He has previously served with Baptist, Methodist, and Presbyterian (PCUSA) congregations in North Carolina and Virginia. More recently, he was the executive director of Together for Hope Louisiana, a ministry and non-profit in the Louisiana Delta. Marc has also taught religion, ethics, and philosophy courses in faculty positions with the University of Mount Olive, Virginia Commonwealth University, Eastern University, and Union Presbyterian Seminary. He has presented at the American Academy of Religion, Harvard Divinity School, Princeton Theological Seminary, and Union Theological Seminary (NYC), along with having work published in multiple journals. In the community, Marc has served on the board of directors with Virginians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty, ACTS Richmond, Delta Interfaith, Together for Hope Louisiana, and he currently serves in leadership positions with the Alliance of Baptists and the Great Rivers Fellowship. A student of liberation theologies, Marc’s ministry and academic work have focused on the church’s pursuit of justice and healing in solidarity with the marginalized. We prepare a hot meal, typically for 40-60 guests, and we also have available a food pantry and clothing closet. Volunteers are always needed and welcome! In this ministry, we greatly value the opportunity not only to help our neighbors, but to get to know them, to sit together, and to share our stories. We believe in a model of ministry that recognizes each person’s dignity. We do not proselytize or ask our guests to have certain beliefs or adopt our own.
