Part-Time Church Organist

St. Charles Avenue Baptist Church is seeking a skilled and dependable part-time organist to provide music for Sunday worship, weekly choir rehearsal, and special services.

The organist will collaborate with the minister of music, pastor, and music ministry to support congregational singing and enhance the spiritual life of the community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide organ music for a weekly Sunday worship service

  • Rehearse with the music minister and choir on Wednesday evenings

  • Accompany congregational hymns, liturgical music, and other service elements

  • Offer prelude and postlude music

  • Coordinate with the minister of music, pastor, and other musicians regarding service music

  • Play for additional services such as weddings, funerals, and major church holidays (Holy Week, Christmas Eve, etc.) as available

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in organ performance and hymn accompaniment

  • Familiarity with traditional church liturgy and hymnody preferred

  • Ability to work collaboratively and reliably

  • Prior church music experience is a plus

Time Commitment

  • Sunday morning worship (approx. 2 hours weekly)

  • Wednesday evening choir practice (approx. 2 hours weekly)

  • Additional rehearsals or special services as scheduled

Compensation

  • Part-time salary will be offered
